APAC is a non-partisan
group of concerned citizens who are leaders in their respective Asian
communities volunteering their time and resources to work on the behalf of
Connecticut Asian Pacific Americans. Our current efforts are aimed at the
creation of a
Connecticut Asian Pacific
American Affairs Commission that would work to advise the
Governor, the Legislature, state agencies, departments, and commissions on
issues relating to the social, educational, health, economic development,
rights, concerns and interests of the APA community.
Please Help Us Save the Commission!
The appropriations committee recommended the Asian Pacific American Affairs
Commission be allotted $64,810.00 for Fiscal Year 2010 and $110,621.00 for
Fiscal Year 2011. The struggle continues, and this is not final. Leadership will
meet with the Governor's office and most likely republican leadership before
crafting a final budget. We therefore need you to continue to make calls to
leadership-Senator Williams and Speaker Christopher Donovan.
PLEASE HELP US SAVE THE COMMISSION and call and or email the two leaders of the
General Assembly:
Senator Donald Williams, (860) 240-8614 or (800) 842-1420,
williams@senatedems.ct.gov
Represenative Christopher Donovan (860) 240-8500 or (800) 842-1902,
Christopher.Donovan@cga.ct.gov
Script: "Please leave the appropriations committee's recommendations to
implement the Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission, so that the commission
can begin its essential and critical work on behalf of Connecticut's ethnically
diverse and fastest growing population."
